The Patagonia Das Parka is one of the best known pieces amongst climbers. A brilliant jacket which is equally at home alpine climbing as it is belaying and a few subtle design changes make it even better. A well fitting shape maximises the warmth in combination with 133g PrimaLoft Gold Insulation Eco fused with aerogel technology throughout to keep you warm with an additional 40g around the torso where you are more exposed to the cold. It also means that like down the jacket compresses well for packability. The PU dry coating and DWR treatment on the Pertex Quantum Pro shell makes for a windproof and water-resistant outer which is more durable than ever but still lightweight. A single-pull, adjustable, helmet-compatible hood that seals without drafts and a tall collar traps extra heat. A few fine points: zippered and insulated handwarmer pockets, a zippered chest pocket, large interior mesh pockets for drying gloves, elasticized cuffs with a low profile thumb loop to pull the sleeves over the hands when working tools overhead, a drawcord drop-tail hem and a 2-way belay loop compatible zip (with an internal, insulated wind flap) that is now plastic so that it doesn't freeze in alpine conditions and can be used with gloves on.
